WatchYoDog is a community app — other walkers can see what you post (alerts, forum threads, chat). No accounts, no telemetry, but it's still public content, so a couple of things first.
You need to check both boxes to continue.

🐾 Look out for the pack
Anything you post here helps someone else's walk go safely.
On some browsers (e.g. Chrome/Android), dictation is processed by your browser vendor's speech servers — that's their behavior, not WatchYoDog's. Review the text before posting either way.
Describe the situation, not a specific person — avoid naming or closely describing someone by appearance. This isn't verified before posting, and identifying details are hard to undo once shared.
Send to authorities
Critical alerts are forwarded to the local animal-control / police desk that covers your area, and they can broadcast a verified response back to everyone nearby.
This is a prototype and does not contact emergency services. If someone or an animal is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number now.
No accounts. No telemetry. No tracking. No ads. Every post here lives on your own device.

💾 Back up your data
There are no accounts here, on purpose — which also means if you clear your browser or lose this device, everything (dogs, walks, karma) is gone for good, with no account to recover it from. This exports an encrypted file only you can read, with a passphrase only you hold. Nothing is ever sent to a server.
☁️ Sync to your own cloud folder
Point this at a folder already synced by Google Drive, iCloud Drive, OneDrive, or similar — WatchYoDog never talks to that service directly, it just writes the same encrypted backup file into a folder your own sync tool already handles.
Choose a passphrase. You'll need this exact passphrase to restore the backup later — if you lose it, the file can't be decrypted by anyone, including us. Write it down somewhere safe.
Restore from backup
This adds the backup's dogs, walks, and forum activity to what's already on this device — it won't erase anything already here.
Wrong passphrase, or this isn't a WatchYoDog backup file.
Sync now
Use the same passphrase every time you sync to this folder, so older backups there stay readable with one passphrase.
Compare a photo
Pick two photos already on this device — say, a photo from a lost-pet flyer and one of a dog you've found — and this checks how visually similar they look. It's a rough visual heuristic, not proof: always double-check details from the post too (collar, markings, location).
Runs entirely on this device. Photos are never uploaded, sent anywhere, or saved — closing this clears them.
Add a dog-friendly place
Parks, water fountains, waste-bag dispensers, patios that welcome dogs — anything useful for the next walker. Unlike alerts, this doesn't expire on its own.
Uses the map's current center as the location.
Add a dog
Shown as a small badge next to their posts, so other walkers know to give space before they approach.
